EDWARDS ENJOYS THAI STOPOVER

Colin Edwards enjoyed a break from the MotoGP paddock with a quick stopover in
Bangkok, Thailand this week as he took part in a promotional visit on behalf of
MotoGP promoter Dorna. Following a difficult weekend for the Gauloises Yamaha
Team rider in Japan, he was able to relax and take a look around the city during
the 24-hour visit before heading on the Malaysia for the next round of the world
championship in Sepang.

MotoGP is currently the most popular motor sport in Thailand and Edwards was
given an enthusiastic traditional welcome at the airport by VIPs and the press.
There was also time for a tour of the city's top historical and tourist sites,
including the Royal Palace and Temple, as well as a boat trip on the Chao Phraya
River.

Finally Edwards took part in a press conference, where he was welcomed by His
Excellency Sontaya Kunplome, Advisor to Thailand's Prime Minister. The press
conference was also attended by senior representatives from Yamaha Motor Asia
and Thai Yamaha Motor Co, both of which have their head offices in the Bangkok
region.

"It was really good to have a quick break from paddock life after an intense
weekend in Japan" said Edwards after the trip. "I visited Bangkok briefly a few
years back and really liked it, so I was happy to have the chance to go back; it
was a fun trip.

"It seems that they're really keen on MotoGP there and we were given an
enthusiastic welcome. The people are so kind and it was no different this time,
they looked after us really well! We go to so many different cities but usually
only have time to see hotels, airports and race tracks, so it was great to have
the chance to experience a bit of local culture for once and do some
sightseeing. From what I've seen so far, Bangkok is a really lively and
interesting city; I hope I get to visit again sometime soon!"
