CHARPENTIER EDGES POLE POSITION AT EUROSPEEDWAY

Winston Ten Kate Honda's Sebastien Charpentier will start tomorrow's tenth round
World Supersport championship race at Eurospeedway Lausitz from pole position
after setting the fastest time in this afternoon's final qualifying session. The
Frenchman's ninth pole position of the season came after he lapped the 4.3km
German circuit in a time of 1m42.017s.

Charpentier crashed early in the 45-minute session and then had an anxious wait
in his pit box while his crew made some adjustments to his spare Honda CBR600RR.
He took pole with just 30 seconds of the session remaining to edge out
Australian rival, Kevin Curtain. Charpentier's Winston Ten Kate Honda team-mate,
Katsuaki Fujiwara, will start from the second row of the grid for tomorrow's
23-lap race after setting the seventh fastest time this afternoon.

"Sebastien's ninth pole position from ten rounds this season certainly didn't
come easy, so that makes it even more satisfying. The session started with him
losing the front in turn four so he had to switch to his spare bike. Just before
he wanted to put in some fast laps, his crew had to change the rear shock so
Sebastien had to wait in the garage for eight or nine minutes. When he went out,
we knew he only had one chance to get pole and he did it like the champion he
is. Kats has climbed up the order from fourteenth to seventh and, using the same
maths, he could be on for something tomorrow. But seriously, he's off the pace
at the moment so he and the team still have some work to do."

Sebastien Charpentier - fastest, 1m42.017s

"I was aiming for a 42.0 today and achieved that but me and Ronald had set a new
target of 41.8 which I think was possible today. The crash was strange as I was
using the same front and I had done three or four laps exactly the same. It's
part of the job, I guess, but I wasn't affected by it during the rest of the
session. I always felt in control and that is helped by the way the team works
so calmly and professionally. It was a very hard session and that is reflected
in how close the lap times are but I know that everyone is even more motivated
to beat me now I am champion. The traffic wasn't too bad today but there were
three riders behind me on my quick lap trying to improve their own times!"

Katsuaki Fujiwara - seventh fastest, 1m43.214s

"We managed to improve from fourteenth yesterday but there is still some work to
do. The bike was better today after we changed some settings but it's not quite
enough. We were starting from a long way back and ran out of time today. There's
not one particular sector that I'm having trouble with - just putting a good lap
together. I'll have a good sleep tonight and think about things and we have some
more options to try during warm-up tomorrow."
